“Cyprus Shipping in Constantinople”



A large number of shipowner national associations from all over the world, attended the Annual General Meeting of the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), which was held in Constantinople, in Turkey, between 10-11 May 2017.

The Director General of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber, Mr. Thomas A. Kazakos, represented the Cyprus Shipping Industry at this important international meeting.

The deliberations of the Annual General Meeting, mainly focused on the position of the international shipping community in relation to the discussions being held at the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), regarding the continuous efforts of the International Shipping Industry to reducing even further the amounts of green house gas emissions from ships.

In addition, during the Meeting, an in-depth discussion was held on the upgrading of the image of Shipping internationally, as the largest blood-donor of World Trade and, by extension, the World Economy.
