Company registrations slump 6.1% in June

Company registrations declined 6.1 per cent in June, compared with the respective month of 2016, to 954, the Department of Registrar of Companies and Official Receiver said.

In the first half of the year, overall company registrations, an indicator of the performance of the business services sector, rose an annual 1.2 per cent to 6,442, the department said in an emailed statement.

The number of certified copies issued fell 1.8 per cent to 25,858 in June and rose 4.2 per cent in January to June to 160,811 compared with the respective period of 2016, the registrar said. Applications for names dropped 3 per cent in June to 2,255 and rose 13,668 in January to June.

The number of documents submitted dropped an annual 3.7 per cent in June to 10,279 and rose 4.2 per cent to 65,819, the registrar of companies said.
