Company registrations down 5.2% in November

The number of company registrations fell in November 5.2 per cent to 1,328 compared to the respective month of 2016, the Department of Registrar of Companies and Official Receiver said.

In the first eight months of 2017, the number of company registrations, a performance gauge for the business services sector, rose an annual 1.5 per cent to 12,470, the department said in an emailed statement on Thursday. Applications for company names rose an annual 1.1 per cent in November to 2,827 and 7.8 per cent in January to November to 26,813.

The number of certified documents issued fell 1.4 per cent in November to 30,176 compared to the respective month of 2016 and rose 4.7 per cent to 296,096 in January to November also compared to the respective period of last year, the department said. The submission of other documents rose 15 per cent to 14,437 last month and 7 per cent to 125,919 in the first 11 months of the year.
