The number of people employed by the government rose last month 3.1 per cent compared to February last year to 51,549, the statistical service said.
The increase was mainly on a 17 per cent annual increase of hourly paid workers to 8,513, Cystat said in a statement on its website. Their number is broken down into 6,836 permanent, down 1.4 per cent in a year, and 1,677 casual employees, up 366 per cent.
The number of civil servants rose marginally to 17,161 in February compared to a year before, while that of school personnel rose 1.5 per cent to 13,372, Cystat said. The number of workers in security forces rose 1 per cent to 12,503.
