PRESS RELEASE

The European Institute of Management and Finance (EIMF), the leading experts in the provision of professional education and training in the sectors of Finance and Professional Services announces its latest global partnership with the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) – the largest and most comprehensive global information privacy community – to offer the ANSI/ISO Approved qualifications – Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) and Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) designatory qualifications.

Data and privacy have always been important issues worldwide and at all levels, affecting individuals, organisations, authorities and governments alike. Although data powers the information economy, the risks associated with it, including data breach, identify theft or loss of customer trust continue to be of major concern.

In the EU the upcoming General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) that will come into force on 25 May 2018, applicable to both EU member states and organizations outside the union when processing the data of citizens within it, has made the need for training, qualifications and a continual awareness of global changes and requirements even more prominent than ever before.

The International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) is a resource for professionals who want to develop and advance their careers by assisting their organizations to successfully manage these risks and protect their data, and the only place that brings together the people, tools and global information management practices needed to thrive in today’s rapidly evolving information economy.

The IAPP has over 35,000 members across 100 countries as well as numerous global strategic alliances, all of which enhance the concept of collaboration equating to professionals being more effective. The IAPP Knowledge Net Chapters offer activities across the world allowing members to stay connected through sharing and learning with other professionals.

The IAPP Certification programmes on information privacy are specifically designed for professionals who manage, handle and access data. These Certifications are recognized and respected by employers worldwide and offer professionals the opportunity to become members of this established community.

The two qualifications that will enhance professionalism and knowledge by addressing the “what” and the “how” of GDPR are:

The Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E) delivers the comprehensive GDPR knowledge, perspective and understanding to ensure compliance and data protection success in Europe—equipping DPOs to take advantage of the career opportunity this sweeping legislation represents. Law and regulation based on the GDPR: The “What” of data protection in Europe

The Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) certification arms privacy and data protection professionals with everything they need to establish, maintain and manage an enterprise-wide privacy program across its entire lifecycle. CIPMs know privacy regulations, and they know how to make them work for their organizations.

Implementing privacy in an organization: The “How” of privacy from a management perspective

Both courses will be addressed by Tim Clements who is based in Copenhagen, and who is a Chartered Fellow of the British Computer Society (FBCS CITP), a Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP) with IAPP (as well as holding CIPP/E, CIPM and CIPT) and possesses CRISC and CGEIT certifications with ISACA.
